Missing Toolbars in V12

21 09 2006

In TurboCAD 12 your toolbars may disappear.  We are in the process of eliminating this annoying bug but in the mean time, I can tell you how to get them back, I know of three ways to do this.

1)  Switching the UI theme- If you switch the theme of the user interface from version 12 to 11 your toolbars should appear just like they where when you first loaded TurboCAD.

     A) Select UI Themes from the Tools menu. Check the radio button next to TurboCAD v11 then hit close.

     B) You will then be asked to restart TurboCAD when it re-starts your toolbars will be back.

     C) You can then switch the UI theme back to v12 and your toolbars will still be there.

     2) Deleting the contents of the built-in folder- If you delete the contents of the built in folder TurboCAD should re-build this folder the next time it starts up. TurboCAD will be returned to its default settings with all the toolbars right where they are suppose to be.

     A) Browse to the folder C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\My Documents\Data\Profiles\Built-in

     B) Select all of the contents in this folder and delete them.

     C) If you cannot find this folder through windows explorer do an all files and folder search for built-in.

     3) Re-install TurboCAD- If you re-install TurboCAD everything should look just like it did when you first installed TurboCAD the next time you start the program.

     A) Remove the program by going to the start menu selecting control panel then add or remove programs.

     B) Find TurboCAD select it then hit the remove button. Windows will take several minutes to remove TurboCAD.

     C)  Re-install TurboCAD from the disk or re-download the software.

About the “Built-in” folder,
in 12.0 & 12.2 it’s located at: C:\Documents and Settings\your User name\Application Data\IMSI\TurboCAD\12\Professional\Profiles\Built-in. On many systems, Application Data is a Hidden folder. In Control Panel|Folder Options you can change the setting for “Hidden files and folders” on the View page so that all the sub-folders to Application Data become accessible.

I too had to find the “built-in” folder under the instructions posted here on your site.

The search did not produce the folder.
